WHAT CAUSES PIPE LEAKS? Poor installation, for one thing.  Kinked pipes, pipes which are rubbing on rocks, are all candidates for future water leaks. Local soil conditions can also cause leaky pipes.  Pipes can corrode from the outside in. Aggressive water can corrode pipes from the inside out.  If this is the reason for your slab leak, you can count on more than one leak!
DIFFERENT TYPES OF PIPE LEAK REPAIR: UNDERSLAB REPAIR   (SLAB LEAK REPAIR)  The slab is jackhammered to expose and fix the leaking water pipe.  Often this is the least expensive slab leak repair option, but it can involve significant damage to the interior of your home, and it leaves you with a high possibility of future underslab plumbing leaks in the remainder of the old, deteriorated pipe system. REROUTE LEAKING PIPE   Our leak detector expert may determine it's not in your best interest to fix the leaking pipe(s) under your slab, and the best option may be to replace those leaky pipe with new pipes, bypassing a portion of your existing water system.  (Rerouting of a portion of your pipes minimizes but does not eliminate the possibility of future water pipe leaks, as much of the old, deteriorated system remains.) HOT SIDE REROUTE  All hot water pipes are replaced with new pipes, bypassing the leaking pipes.  This eliminates the potential for slab leaks in the hot water piping system.  Most slab leaks occur in the hot water pipes, however, cold water pipes can, and do, produce slab leaks.  Many homeowners opt for a complete hot and cold water REPIPE in order to gain the best assurance against future plumbing leaks.
There are many reasons why you should not ignore the symptoms of a slab or underground water leak:
Leaky pipes (slab leaks) are inconvenient: you may not have hot water when you want it.   Water leaks (slab leaks) are expensive: you could be paying for gallons of wasted water each day.  And, underground slab leaks can cause serious structural problems:  enough water under your concrete slab could, over time, undermine the slab and/or cause settling issues which might have an effect on the structural integrity of your home.
